Club Competitions
One of the GBSA objectives is to support and help grow the number of club competitions throughout the UK in both Dance, Figures, and Free. We are very aware of the need for skaters to compete more and to give our newcomers a way into the competition structure without moving too quickly into national events.
There are two kinds of competitions that clubs are permitted to run, an "inter-club competition" or a "Club Competition" event. An event is classed as an "inter-club" event when the event is made up of the hosting club plus one other club. These events do not require a permit or follow GBSA competition rules.
Club Competition Regulations
- Clubs can invite an unlimited number of clubs to the event.
- Clubs must have a minimum of two (2) GBSA Judges and one (1) GBSA Calculator attend the event which will be assigned by the commission. If two are not possible, the GBSA Officials Commission may grant permission for only one. Club should not contact GBSA officials themselves.
- Other officials can be made up of Junior/Senior skaters, head coaches and coaches, following these rules. 1) Head coaches and coaches of the hosting or attending clubs cant be used in events where skaters of their club are competing. 2) Junior and Senior skaters from the hosting or attending clubs can only be used if they are not competing and they are not judging events which includes any skater they directly coach.
- The club must submit an online form on the GBSA website, which must include the non-GBSA officials being used for approval.
- Events must be judged under the white system only: 0-10.0 marking system or knockout system.
- GBSA will supply judging sheets and judge's rota. The entry competition and entry list must be supplied to the allocated GBSA Calculator a minimum of two (2) weeks before the event.
- There will be a one-off fee of £75 payable to GBSA to run the event.
- All skaters entering must be members of GBSA. Skaters who are not members can pay a guest fee of £5 to GBSA to skate in the event.
- An entry list should be sent to GBSA for checking. GBSA will invoice the attending clubs for the £5 entry payments for guest skaters where applicable.
- Clubs must send their proof of insurance to the GBSA Office prior to the event.
- There are no restrictions on when an event can run.
- GBSA Officials are still governed under GBSA rules, including expenses. The non-GBSA Officials are controlled by the club inviting them.
- Results will only show the final results and not place marks.
