GBSA Affiliation
Welcome to the GBSA affiliation form. Please fill out the below form and send the request to affiliate a club, Academy or Skating School with GBSA. On completion a member of the team will be in contact.
GBSA Affiliation
GBSA offers three different affiliation types, Club Afilliation, Club Lite Affiliation and Skating School/Academy.
Club
A Club is run by and for the benefit of its members and whist clubs are free to make their own rules, certain mandatory rules are required for affiliation. This is to ensure that there is a degree of democracy that the members can rely on, and all moneys raised are used for the benefit of the members.
Academy / Skating School
An Academy or skating school, this is deemed to be a commercial organisation set up not only to promote the sport, but in some cases also for the benefit of the owners - Trustees, Directors, Partners - or whoever manages the Academy or skating school. As such, the rules relating to committees and finance do not apply . However, before affiliating an Academy or skating school, GBSA would insist that it's specimen rules regarding safeguarding and competitive exclusion clause would need to be incorporated into the Academy or Skating School rules.
An Academy or skating school must be registered as of of the following to achieve the status:
Charity
Limited Company
CIC (community interest company) with shares or non-profit
Sole trader
If you are regsitered as something else, please contact the GBSA Office for approval.
Specific Affiliation Guidelines
Club Lite - For clubs with 1-10 GBSA registered skaters to affiliate must have:• Mandatory GBSA club rules• Mandatory policies o Safeguarding o Complaints procedure o Anti-bullying o Data protection policy• Mandatory Club Welcome Pack o Club rules / policies o Key Contact information• Chairperson, Secretary and Club Admin – This can be the same person• Safeguarding lead – a 12month ”buddy” system can be put in place to align the new SGL with a existing clubs SGL for support.• Public liability insurance• Yearly GBSA audit – Clubs will be requested by a member of the GBSA board to an audit call to ensure the club is being run in regulation with club lite rules and regulations.• Cost per annum is £75
Club - For clubs with 11 + GBSA registered skaters to affiliate must have:• Mandatory GBSA club rules• Mandatory policies o Safeguarding o Complaints procedure o Anti-bullying o Data protection policy• Mandatory Club Welcome Pack o Club rules / policies o Key Contact information• Committee: o Chairperson o Safeguarding Lead o Treasurer o Secretary o Club Admin• Public liability insurance• Club bank account in the club name with yearly accounts• Yearly AGM• Cost per annum is £75
Academy / Skating School• Academy / skating school rules• Proof of being a o Charity o Limited Company o CIC (community interest company) with shares or non-profit
o Sole Trader• Mandatory policies o Safeguarding o Complaints procedure o Anti-bullying o Data protection policy• Mandatory roles o Admin role (GBSA database lead) o Safeguarding Lead• Mandatory Academy or skating school Welcome Pack o Rules / policies o Key Contact information• Annual cost £125
Supporting Documents
Clubs, academys / Skating Schools should submit their Club Rules, Complaints Procedure, Data Protection, Anti-Bullying, Privacy Policy and proof of public libaility insurance along with all items named as "Accept and sign" to office@gbskateartistic.co.uk. Once these all these have been received and agreed affiliation will be approved. The below specimens can be used as a guide to support the process.
